About Me
My journey with photography began at 17 years old, but my love for it started much earlier during my freshman year of high school when I first stepped into a darkroom photography class. That experience introduced me to the foundations of photography — learning how cameras worked, developing film, and creating prints by hand through chemical processing. It was there that I first discovered the power of capturing a moment and turning it into something lasting.
Photography became truly personal to me during my junior year of high school when I began helping create my school’s yearbook and photographing senior portraits for classmates. For the first time, I realized photography was more than just taking pictures — it was storytelling, preserving memories, and allowing people to see themselves in a meaningful way.
One of the people who inspired me most to continue pursuing photography was my grandmother. She saw something in me that I didn’t yet see in myself, and her encouragement pushed me to continue creating even when I doubted my own abilities.
What continues to draw me back to photography is the sense of peace, creativity, and freedom that comes with being behind the camera. Photography allows me to slow down, observe the world differently, and capture moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
My work focuses heavily on portraiture, documentary photography, and nature imagery. Through my lens, I strive to create images that feel honest, emotional, and timeless. Many of my documentary photographs were captured throughout Tulsa, Oklahoma, where I documented historical protests, community moments, and everyday life unfolding in real time. I believe these moments matter because history impacts individuals, families, and entire communities for generations to come.
Whether I’m photographing a portrait session, a quiet landscape, or a moment of history, my goal is always the same: to create images that make people feel something. I want viewers to feel calm, encouraged, reflective, and connected to the story behind every photograph.
Photography has given me purpose, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty that exists in both ordinary and historic moments. More than anything, I hope my work reminds people that every moment, every person, and every story carries meaning.
Zachariah Photography was created using my middle name as a reflection of both personal identity and creative expression.
